Minutes, Reports, Planning Files n.d.; 1971

This series comprises records from the second deaconess conference held by the Deaconess Community of the Lutheran Church in America (LCA) August 3-6, 1971, at Lankenau School, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Records date from 1970-1971 and include minutes, motions passed, reports, circular letters, business correspondence, printed remarks, proposals, worship orders of service, and general planning records that include schedules, lists, and calendars. While several of the records were generated during the course of recording the proceedings of the conference, many were generated because of the planning process for the conference. Reports include those filed by deaconess community committees, as well as the executive secretary and the directing sister. Included in the printed remarks is the presentation given by the Rev. Dr. Robert J. Marshall, president of the LCA. Planning records include menus, schedules of events, participant lists, and committee meeting minutes. Also included in this series are discussion group materials related to a proposal to restructure the deaconess community. The materials include the proposal as well as material to facilitate small discussion groups convened at the conference.
